What's more, trust has a noteworthy positive effect on long haul direction of the relationship among SMEs. The birthplaces of the basic condition demonstrating (SEM) have its foundations in three orders: human science, brain science and financial aspects. In promoting SEM begins its application in November 1982 in the issue distributed by the Journal of Marketing Research (Bollen 1989). SEM becomes out of and fills needs like different relapse, yet in an all the more remarkable way which considers the displaying of collaborations, nonlinearities, related independents, estimation mistake, associated blunder terms, various dormant independents each deliberate by numerous markers, and at least one inactive wards likewise each with numerous pointers. SEM might be utilized as an all the more remarkable option in contrast to numerous relapse, way investigation, factor examination, time arrangement examination, and examination of covariance. That is, these systems might be viewed as extraordinary instances of SEM, or, to put it another way, SEM is an augmentation of the general direct model (GLM) of which different relapse is a section. In this examination we apply SEM to look at the impact of notoriety, adaptability, data trade, force and ability on trust and thusly on long haul direction. ... ng-term direction is a focal subject in showcasing presently, it is vital to comprehend what are the factors that help clarify effective long haul relationship building. The investigation is organized as follows. In the first place, we give a short portrayal of SEM and its significance for showcasing research, at that point we give the bases to the interrelationship between the factors utilized in the model; this is trailed by depiction of the structure of the investigation lastly, conversation of the outcome is given. Depiction of auxiliary condition displaying and its appropriateness to the field of advertising SEM is generally seen as a corroborative as opposed to exploratory technique, utilizing one of three methodologies: 1. Carefully corroborative methodology: A model is tried utilizing SEM integrity of-fit tests to decide whether the example of differences and covariances in the information is reliable with a basic (way) model determined by the scientist. Anyway as other unexamined models may fit the information also or better, an acknowledged model is just a not-disconfirmed model. 2. Elective models approach: One may test at least two causal models to figure out which has the best fit. There are numerous integrity of-fit measures, reflecting various contemplations, and normally three or four are accounted for by the scientist. Albeit alluring on a basic level, this AM approach runs into this present reality issue that in most explicit research subject territories, the analyst doesn't discover in the writing two all around created elective models to test. 3. Model advancement approach: by and by, much SEM inquire about consolidates corroborative and exploratory purposes: a model is tried utilizing SEM strategies, saw as insufficient, and an elective model is then tried dependent on changes proposed by SEM alteration records. Understanding Parenthetical Elements

Understanding Parenthetical Elements An incidental component is a word or gathering of words that intrudes on the progression of a sentence and includes extra (however superfluous) data to that sentence. This component can be long or short, and it can show up toward the start, the center, or the finish of a provision or sentence. John, the second player in the lineup, is a quick runner.Mildred is an incredible cook, as an issue of fact.Just this once, you should give mustard a shot your nutty spread sandwiches. The hound, in the wake of guarding the bit up toy for over 60 minutes, at long last became weary of hanging tight for me to play with him. Sorts of Words or Word Groups that Can Be Parenthetical Elements: Appositives Model: The book, a 758 page beast, was required for my history class. Relative statements Model: My teacher, who has lunch each day instantly around early afternoon, was not accessible for conversation. Prepositional expressions Model: The turkey, after snapshots of pondering, ate the bug. Expressions as models Example: Foods that are hot or zesty, for example jalapenos or hot wings, make my eyes water. You may think about the incidental component as an abrupt idea that flies into your head as you are saying something. Since it gives extra or supporting data to a total sentence, the primary piece of the sentence ought to have the option to remain solitary without the words expressed in the incidental component. The name incidental may create turmoil since it takes after the word enclosures. Truth be told, some incidental components are so solid (they can be very shocking) that they require bracket. The past sentence gives a model! Here are a couple of something else: My sister (the one remaining on the seat) is attempting to stand out enough to be noticed. The strawberry tart (the one with the nibble removed from it) has a place with me. Recently (the longest day of my life) I got my first speeding ticket. Accentuation for Parenthetical Elements The models above show that incidental components are typically set off by some type of accentuation so as to evade disarray. The sort of accentuation utilized really relies upon the level of interference brought about by the interrupter. Commas are utilized when the interference is least decided. On the off chance that the sentence containing the incidental component streams pretty easily, at that point commas are a decent decision: My companion, who doesn’t like to wear socks, is attempting to give me his sneakers. Enclosures are utilized (as expressed above) when the interfering with thought speaks to a greater redirection from the first message or thought. Pizza is my preferred food (the block stove kind is best).I think Ill return home now (the walk will do me good)â before I nod off at work. However, there is one more type of accentuation that you may utilize on the off chance that you utilize an intruding on incidental component that truly shocks the peruser from the principle thought. Dashesâ are utilized for the most determined interferences. Use runs to set off an incidental component for an increasingly emotional effect.â My birthday celebration what an astonishment!- was a ton of fun. The frog-the person who hopped on the window and made me hop a mile-is presently under my seat. I bit my lip-ouch!- to shield from expressing my genuine thoughts.

The shortage of drinking water is obvious and extremely acute in some regions of the Earth. Freshwater Resources Freshwater resources exist because of the eternal cycle of water. Thus far, it is believed that water is indestructible and is recycled through the hydrologic cycle. As a result of evaporation, there is a huge amount of water reaching 530 thousands of cubic meters per year. 85% of this amount falls on the salty waters of the oceans and inland seas. The rest of water evaporates on dry land. Each year, about 1250 millimeters of the water layer evaporates. The major part of it falls with precipitation into the ocean.

Do You Think Firms Have Any Responsibility to Society - Free Essay Example

MBC 703 –CORPORATE FINANCE ACCOUNTS ASSIGNMENT: The Primary goal of a firm has been held out to be shareholder wealth maximization which translates to maximizing stock prices. In light of this statement, do you think firms have any responsibility to society? BY Akanji Emmanuel olusegun BSU/MS/MBA/08/3104 FACULTY OF MANAGEMENT SCIENCE MASTER OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION (MBA) BENUE STATE UNIVERSITY MAKURDI. AUGUST,2010 1. 0 Introduction: The fundamental economic role of business is to make profit and to maximize shareholders wealth. Therefore, this primary objective is carried out in the society. Firms Operations are not performed in a vacuum but in an environment. Business Organizations are open system that must interact and respond to the environment. The performance of the Firm therefore is influence by the environment. The environment of business is made up of all the elements that are relevant to an organization’s operation though outside its control. This means that to survive in business environment, firm must anticipate, interact, act and react to environments to utilize the opportunities (maximizing Shareholder wealth) and avert the threats of not getting involve in(corporate social responsibilities) protect the interest of the societies. 1. 1 What is Corporate social responsibility? : Corporate social responsibility (CSR), also known as corporate responsibility, corporate citizenship, responsible business, sustainable responsible business (SRB), or corporate social performance, CSR is a form of corporate self-regulation integrated into a business model. Ideally, CSR policy would function as a built-in, self-regulating mechanism whereby business would monitor and ensure its support to law, ethical standards, and international norms. The definition of CSR used within an organization can vary from the strict stakeholder impacts definition used by many CSR advocates and will often include charitable efforts and volunteering. CSR may be based within the human resources, business development or public relations departments of an organisation, or may be given a separate unit reporting to the CEO or in some cases directly to the board. Some companies may implement CSR-type values without a clearly defined team or programme. Consequently, business would embrace responsibility for the impact of its activities on the environment, consumers, employees, communities, stakeholders and all other members of the public sphere. Furthermore, CSR-focused businesses would proactively promote the public interest by encouraging community growth and development, and voluntarily eliminating practices that harm the public sphere, regardless of legality. Essentially, CSR is the deliberate inclusion of public interest into corporate decision-making, and the honouring of a triple bottom line: People, Planet, Profit. Free market theory founded on liberal business ethos, presumably from Adam Smith: In the free marketplace, the essential (and ethical) aim for business leaders is to relentlessly pursue capital for their shareholders. The sole responsibility of business becomes simple: to facilitate the efficient allocation of economic resources and maximize shareholder wealth (i. e. become and remain as profitable as possible). Thus wealth creation transformed from selfish pursuit to â€Å"moral act. † Organized corporate responsibility programs not core function of business but seen ancillary to essential goal of profit-making This includes not only activities such a philanthropy, civic volunteerisms, and the like, but also â€Å"people centered† strategic public relations, such as Identifying and building mutually beneficia l relationships with publics, or Establishing and maintaining a favorable public reputation Sacconi(2004). 2. 0 CSR and Value Assertion Bansal(2000) stated that Corporate social responsibility are more than philanthropy, not just extraneous activity but should be core moral part of spectrum of obligations businesses address as part of society: in his word, he thought specifically about those decisions which managers face in the daily course of carrying out the firms normal business activities, but which carry inherent ethical connotations. Examples of these types of decisions would include those decisions regarding layoffs, plant closings, workplace safety, product safety, worker compensation, executive salaries, information disclosure, or the level of pollution emissions . 1 Business Decisions and Corporate social responsibility Because every business decision ultimately affects someone, the decision should be made responsibly. Public relations should play a vital role in decision making by pointing out the potential implications and consequences of all of the firms behaviors not only for the various stakeholders of the business but, in the long run, for the organization itself. Elements of Liberal Business Ethos †¢ Society is based on atomistic individual freedom, †¢ Individuals are exclusively self-interested; †¢ All relationships in economic society are by nature instrumental; Free markets are inherently stable and self-regulating; †¢ There is a natural division of labor between business and government; and †¢ The sole ethical responsibility of business is to maximize shareholder wealth (profits). Adam Smith credited with articulating basis for liberal business ethos in the Wealth of Nations: 2. 2 APPROACHES TO CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITIES An approach for CSR that is becoming more widely accepted is community-based development approach. In this approach, corporations work with local communities to better themselves. Often activities companies participate in are establishing education facilities for adults and Children, given scholarship and HIV/AIDS education programmes. The majority of these CSR projects are established in Nigeria by blue cheap companies such as Shell Nigeria in the Niger delta, Daimond bank Nigeria Plc –Building School Hostels Accommodation, AP oil, First bank Nigeria Plc to mention but a few. A more common approach of CSR is philanthropy. This includes monetary donations and aid given to local organizations and impoverished communities in developing countries. Some organization do not like this approach as it does not help build on the skills of the local people, whereas community-based development generally leads to more sustainable development. Another approach to CSR is to incorporate the CSR strategy directly into the business strategy of an organization. For instance, Diamond Bank Nigeria PLC in one of her product sponsor children to South Africa for maintaining some balances in their account. Another approach is garnering increasing corporate responsibility interest. This is called Creating Shared Value, or CSV. The shared value model is based on the idea that corporate success and social welfare are interdependent. A business needs a healthy, educated workforce, sustainable resources and adept government to compete effectively. For society to thrive, profitable and competitive businesses must be developed and supported to create income, wealth, tax revenues, and opportunities for philanthropy. CSV received global attention in the Harvard Business Review article Strategy Society: The Link between Competitive Advantage and Corporate Social Responsibility Michael(2000). Mark(1998) In his article provides insights and relevant examples of companies that have developed deep linkages between their business strategies and corporate social responsibility. Many approaches to CSR pit businesses against society, emphasizing the costs and limitations of compliance with externally imposed social and environmental standards. CSV acknowledges trade-offs between short-term profitability and social or environmental goals, but focuses more on the opportunities for competitive advantage from building a social value proposition 2. 3 Criticisms and concerns The practice of CSR is subject to much debate and criticism. Proponents argue that there is a strong business case for CSR, in that corporations benefit in multiple ways by operating with a perspective broader and longer than their own immediate, short-term profits. Critics argue that CSR distracts from the fundamental economic role of businesses; others argue that it is nothing more than superficial window-dressing; others yet argue that it is an attempt to pre-empt the role of governments as a watchdog over powerful multinational corporations. Corporate Social Responsibility has been redefined throughout the years. However, it essentially is titled to aid to an organizations mission as well as a guide to what the company stands for and will uphold to its consumers. Development Business ethics is one of the forms of applied ethics that examines ethical principles and moral or ethical problems that can arise in a business environment. CSR and the nature of business :Milton Friedman and others have argued that a corporations purpose is to maximize returns to its shareholders, and that since (in their view), only people can have social responsibilities, corporations are only responsible to their shareholders and not to society as a whole. Although they accept that corporations should obey the laws of the countries within which they work, they assert that corporations have no other obligation to society. Some people perceive CSR as incongruent with the very nature and purpose of business, and indeed a hindrance to free trade. Those who assert that CSR is contrasting with capitalism and are in favor of neoliberalism argue that improvements in health, longevity and/or infant mortality have been created by economic growth attributed to free enterprise. Critics of this argument perceive neoliberalism as opposed to the well-being of society and a hindrance to human freedom. They claim that the type of capitalism practiced in many developing countries is a form of economic and cultural imperialism, noting that these countries usually have fewer labor protections, and thus their citizens are at a higher risk of exploitation by multinational corporations. A wide variety of individuals and organizations operate in between these poles. For example, the REALeadership Alliance asserts that the business of leadership (be it corporate or otherwise) is to change the world for the better. Many religious and cultural traditions hold that the economy exists to serve human beings, so all economic entities have an obligation to society (e. g. Economic Justice for All). Moreover, as discussed above, many CSR proponents point out that CSR can significantly improve long-term corporate profitability because it reduces risks and inefficiencies while offering a host of potential benefits such as enhanced brand reputation and employee engagement. 2. 4 CSR and questionable motives Some critics believe that CSR programs are undertaken by companies such as British American Tobacco (BAT), the petroleum giant BP (well-known for its high-profile advertising campaigns on environmental aspects of its operations), and to distract the public from ethical questions posed by their core operations. They argue that some corporations start CSR programs for the commercial benefit they enjoy through raising their reputation with the public or with government. They suggest that corporations which exist solely to maximize profits are unable to advance the interests of society as a whole. Another concern is when companies claim to promote CSR and be committed to Sustainable Development whilst simultaneously engaging in harmful business practices. For example, since the 1970s, the McDonalds Corporations association with Ronald McDonald House has been viewed as CSR and relationship marketing. More recently, as CSR has become mainstream, the company has beefed up its CSR programs related to its labor, environmental and other practices All the same, in McDonalds Restaurants v Morris Steel, Lord Justices Pill, May and Keane ruled that it was fair comment to say that McDonalds employees worldwide do badly in terms of pay and onditions and true that if one eats enough McDonalds food, ones diet may well become high in fat etc. , with the very real risk of heart disease. Shell has a much-publicized CSR policy and was a pioneer in triple bottom line reporting, but this did not prevent the 2004 scandal concerning its misreporting of oil reserves, which seriously damaged its re putation and led to charges of hypocrisy. Since then, the Shell Foundation has become involved in many projects across the world, including a partnership with Marks and Spencer (UK) in three flower and fruit growing communities across Africa Gary (2004) Critics concerned with corporate hypocrisy and insincerity generally suggest that better governmental and international regulation and enforcement, rather than voluntary measures, are necessary to ensure that companies behave in a socially responsible manner. Others, such as Patricia Werhane argue that CSR should be looked more upon as a Corporate Moral Responsibility, and limit the reach of CSR by focusing more on direct impacts of the organization as viewed through a systems perspective to identify stakeholders Fields(2002). In the increasingly conscience-focused marketplaces of the 21st century, the demand for more ethical business processes and actions (known as ethicism) is increasing. Simultaneously, pressure is applied on industry to improve business ethics through new public initiatives and laws (e. g. higher UK road tax for higher-emission vehicles). The term CSR came in to common use in the early 1970s, after many multinational corporations formed, although it was seldom abbreviated. The term stakeholder, meaning those on whom an organizations activities have an impact, was used to describe corporate owners beyond shareholders as a result of an influential Freeman(1984). . 5 Potential business Impacts of CSR The scale and nature of the Impacts of CSR for an organization can vary depending on the nature of the enterprise, and are difficult to quantify, though there is a large body of literature exhorting business to adopt measures beyond financial ones found a correlation between social/environmental performance and financial performance. However, businesses may not be looking at short-run financial returns when developing their CSR strategy. A recent survey of 20,000 people in 20 countries offers some fascinating insights into the way consumers, and societies at large, perceive the social and environmental responsibilities of business. Corporate Social Responsibility Monitor 2001: Global Public Opinion on the Changing Role of Companies identifies those aspects of corporate practice that matter most to the general public. It also reveals some intriguing differences in priorities between different regions of the world. The survey was undertaken by Environics International, and involved interviews with around 1,000 people in each of 20 countries including the USA, Canada, Mexico, Britain, France, Germany, Japan, India, Russia and Nigeria. The key findings are as follows. 1. Significant numbers of investors take a companys social performance into consideration when making investment decisions 2. In wealthy countries, social responsibility makes a greater contribution to corporate reputation than brand image 3. Companies that ignore social responsibility place market share at risk 4. Views and behaviours of opinion leaders indicate that consumers social expectations of companies will continue to grow 5. North American consumers represent the most socially demanding market for companies 6. Two distinct groups of citizens, making up a third of the world, are engaged in pressurizing companies to assume greater social responsibility Human resources A CSR programme can be an aid to recruitment and retention, particularly within the competitive graduate student market. Potential recruits often ask about a firms CSR policy during an interview, and having a comprehensive policy can give an advantage. CSR can also help improve the perception of a company among its staff, particularly when staff can become involved through payroll giving, fundraising activities or community volunteering. See also Corporate Social Entrepreneurship, whereby CSR can also be driven by employees personal values, in addition to the more obvious economic and governmental drivers. What to Do? Articulate an alternative corporate ethical framework that places public relations into the core goals of socially responsible corporations. Public relations often perceived as attempt by cynical corporations to manipulate public opinion. Sadly true in some cases, but PR much more than this. 3. 0 Conclusion If Corporate Social Responsibilities(CSR) could become truly valued and supported by all Firm, it could become the foundation for a revised ethos between businesses and their societies all over the world. Such a revision should turn the invisible hand of business profitability into a visible and active hand of social prosperity. And businesses would be the better for it. . 0 Recommendations If corporate morality is to change into something less selfish and more humane, it should be guided by someone who values human relationships and be socially responsible too. Corporations must acknowledge that they are part of broader society and that publics in the society can have an impact on their achievements. Corporate Social Responsibilities(CSR) is based on publics, and publics are cultural constructs. Corporate Social Respo nsibilities , therefore, must take into account culture. REFERENCES: Baker, M. Women’s Discriminations - 988 Words

Women’s Discriminations Although the position of a woman in society today has improved, there is still a great deal of sexual discrimination. Do you agree? Discrimination of a woman in society is still remarkable in spite of the fact that there are organizations against woman discrimination. This issue is common in different countries especially in the United States of America and in Sweden. How could we Identify discrimination of a woman? Is it by nature that a woman is differing than a man? Firstly, we consider discrimination if both sexes, man and woman works at the same job, position and task, but different wages of salary. In the United States of America, women complain their wages gap which is less than a man. Women in all†¦show more content†¦Testosterone influence how the brain develops. It seems that differences in hormone levels create the differences we see between male and female but cultural influence will change some interest like for example in India, they have economical problem, women go to study technical course because they want a job. Unlike in more progressive countries like for example western and Europe, women have freedom to choose. The four psychologies come up with relevant studies. Studies show that women and men were born differently by nature. They explained relatively that makes sense of reliability. It seems to me that sexual discrimination is still a great deal all over the world especially in USA and in Sweden. Even though there are organizations for women’s-human right for example International Alliance of Women (IAW). The basic principle of the IAW is that the full and equal enjoyment of human right is due to all women and girls. I do agree that sex’s discrimination is one of the problems in the society, for the reason of unequal payment between man and woman with the same job and position. In my point of view, not all the situation we can consider sexes discrimination, because I believe that man and woman was born differently as the study of biology was proven that male and female develop in different interest. I can say that man is stronger than woman, and that is true. There is some job that fits only for man. My Mom the Powerhouse Essay - 717 Words

My Mom the Powerhouse One of the biggest influences in my life is my Mom. She is one of 10 children born to an Appalachian coal miner who could not read or write. Her family lived in the mountains of Kentucky in a little cottage that had no running water and no electricity. She read by kerosene lamp. As a child, she attended a one-room schoolhouse, which also had no electricity and no running water. There was one teacher for eight grades, and each row in the classroom was a grade. My mom says she liked listening to the lessons of the higher grades. There was a big, black potbellied stove in the middle of the room, between the fourth- and fifth-grade rows. My mom couldnt wait to get to the fourth grade so she could†¦show more content†¦When it came time to eat a chicken, he would wring its neck, and it would flop all over the back yard before dying. My mother got attached to one chicken and made it her pet. She named it Miss Red. Miss Red would lay brown eggs, and my mom would collect them. My moms father killed all the other chickens for food, and he tried to avoid killing Miss Red, but she was the last chicken, and the family needed food. He waited until my mom had gone to school, then he wrung the neck of Miss Red. My mom came home from school and discovered that Miss Red was cut up, fried, and sitting in a platter on the supper table. My mom cried and refused to eat Miss Red. Her mother gave her a nickel and tried to comfort her, but to this day, my mom cant eat chicken without remembering Miss Red. As a child, my mom suffered through the death of her mother. After that, she was put in foster homes and was constantly moving from home to home. She was able to get through college all by herself, receiving scholarships and working part-time. She now works as an editor for McGraw-Hill books and takes night classes toward an M.B.A. She says, Education is a lifelong process. StockTrak Free Essays

If we compare our Bear and Bull spreads to short and long stock positions respectively we can actually show how options are highly levered financial instruments, increasing profits, but also losses tremendously. If we had shorted a Cataracts stock our profit from the price decline would have been 6. 50% per share, while with our Bear Spread we made a profit of ten times the cost of building the spread. We will write a custom essay sample on StockTrak or any similar topic only for you Order Now On the other hand, If we had held a Nikkei stock we would have had a loss of 6. 27% per share from the price cline, whereas our loss with the bull spread was 74. 8% if we compare it to the cost of building the spread. This figures show how option trading is cheaper relative to stock trading, but profits or losses are much higher in percentage terms. For our Butterfly, Strangle and Straddle strategies we chose Pfizer, which based on our analysis, presented Itself as a very stable stock, with a 6-months average price of $30. 66 and a current price of $31. 12 (March 13th). We wanted to bet on very low volatility and make a profit from very low fluctuations from Pfizer stock. Our Butterfly parade consisted on shorting two 32-strike calls and taking a long position on 31- strike and 33-strike calls. The center strike price of our butterfly was the exercise price of the Straddle and also lied exactly in the middle of the $31. 5-strike put and $32. 5-strike call for our Strangle. In the end, our Butterfly spread turned out to be for our spread (see Graph 3). 2. ) The article posted referrers to â€Å"covered call writing† as taking a long position on stock and writing a call that is significantly out-of-the money. With his strategy, if the call option is exercised and the investor has to sell his hares, he is covered by holding the underlying. If we compared the covered call strategy to a short naked call we can clearly see that the risk for the naked position is unlimited if the price of the stock increases. With the covered call, by going long on the underlying, we cap our profit but we also limit our loss, whereas with the naked short call we are completely exposed. The analog position using puts, I. E â€Å"covered put writing† would mean writing a put and shorting the underlying. To execute such a strategy is possible, but the risk embedded in it is very high, because the potential asses from a price increase in the stock are unlimited. The premium gained from the put writing might not be large enough to cover the losses from the short position if the price increase is high. 3. ) For our collar strategy we selected Apple stock. To execute such a trade we bought 1,000 shares at $527. 49, went long one thousand 535-strike puts and shorted the same number of 540-strike calls; both option contracts expired on April 25. Our collar was as close to zero as possible, where the put options had a price of $16. 5 and the call options were priced at $17. 25. If the rice of Apple had stayed between the two designated strikes, our profit would have been the value of the stock plus the $0. 75-differential between the option prices. At maturity Apple closed at $571. 94, meaning that the call option was exercised and we lost $41. 94, but we also gained $44. 45 on the price appreciation of the shares, leaving us with a net profit of (44. 45 – 41. 94 + 0. 75) $3. 26 per share. 4. To execute the stop- loss and delta-hedge strategies we wrote 100 at-the-money call option contracts on Backbone and Google. Our initial position to hedge both strategies was long the hares of both companies. For Backbone we used the stop-loss strategy and set arbitrary times to check our positions and hedge it. The initial cash inflow of shorting these options was $35,500 and the cost of hedging this position went up to $174,312. 51. On the other hand, with the Google options we used the delta-hedge strategy and checked the stock price 3 times a day. The initial cash inflow from shorting the calls was $54,000 and the costs related to hedging reached a total of $1 The amount spent for hedging the FEB.. Shares was 5 times larger than he value of the options we sold, while for Google the ratio was 20 to 1 . After seeing these figures we can observe that hedging strategies are extremely costly, but are essential to protect short positions against risk and prevent higher losses. 5. ) To create the â€Å"synthetic† rep we bought Gold at spot price of $1,296 on March 27 and shorted Gold futures expiring in April; the average of the ask and bid prices for this contract was $1 ,302. Executing this transaction, we locked in our prices for a return of 0. 463%. The I-month treasury bills from the U. S. Federal Reserve website is quoted at 0. 0167%, which is essentially 0%. Comparing the return rate from our futures contract with the I-month T-bill rate, there is an arbitrage opportunity. To exploit this opportunity we would borrow money at the T-bill rate of and use it to buy gold at the spot price, in addition to these transactions, we would short Gold futures to make a final profit of 0. 613%. 6. ) current pence of BIBB: $ 290. 54 price of put @ 290: 10. 30 price of call @ 290: 13. 00 Deep in the money calls: price of call 0280: 9. 40 pence of put 0280: 5. 42 Deep in the money puts: price of call @300: 7. 72 pence of put 0300: 16. 8 If we look at at-the-money options and, considering that the risk free rate is essentially zero, the stock price and the present value of the strike price are practically equal, so in order for UT Call Parity to obey, the put and call price should be identical. As we can see in the quoted prices above, parity doesn’t hold; the call price is higher than the put. We could exploit this opportunity by going long on the put and the share, shorting the call and borrowing the present value of K. When it comes to deep in-the-money calls the share price is higher than the present value of K, so the call price should be higher than the put price by the same amount as the price differential between S and IV (K). We can see from the prices above that the call is undervalued in relation to the put. To exploit this arbitrage opportunity we would buy a call, invest IV (K) and short the put and the share. Finally, for deep in-the- money puts, the share price is lower than the present value of K, so the put price should be higher than the call price by the same amount as the price differential between S and IV (K). We can see that the put is undervalued in relation to the call. To exploit this arbitrage opportunity we would buy the put and the share, borrow IV (K) and short the call. 7. When looking at the overall performance of our portfolio and its relative risk we can conclude that it was much riskier relative to the S and also had a lower return. If we look at the summary figures of our portfolio we can see that it had an overall return of 0. 63%, whereas the SPY IETF had a percentage return of 1 . 19% (see Graph 4). We believe that the reason for the lower return and higher risk of our portfolio comes from several trades involving silver and platinum futures entrants that we p erformed to experiment with the platform and observe how these contracts behaved. In general we think that such a project is a very useful and enjoyable way to get to know the trading world. Performing actual trades allowed us to â€Å"get our hands dirty’ and truly understand how to build spreads and implement investment strategies. This project gave us the opportunity to go beyond the theory and realize that trading can sometimes be more complicated that it seems on paper, but can also become much clearer once the theory is implemented in a â€Å"real world† setting. We very much enjoyed working on this project. How to cite StockTrak, Papers

Only some information like date, destination, departing airport, number of passengers should have to be provided for faster searching of the required flights available from the location on the day. Similarly the location of the hotel, check in and checkout day and number of persons should be entered at the hotel websites. However for booking any hotel or flight tickets from hotels.com or Trivago and cheapoair, it is required for paying online using payment options like credit card or debit card. The websites have privacy policy that entrusts the customers and website users that their information and data provided would not be used for any illegal purpose and only for the mentioned booking purpose. The website had a disclaimer tick in option in which the user would declare that he/she had provided the information to the website and they had not forged information from anywhere. Figure 3: Booking system in cheapoair.com Figure 4: Booking system in hotels.com Figure 5: Booking system in trivago.com Technical support: While discussing about the technical support, the first important point is the system log in response time. In this context, all the three websites are efficient enough. The response time for the system log in of the users can not be differentiated from each other of the three sites. All the sites are able to respond to the users very quickly. Support in different types of web browsers is the second important fact regarding the technical support of the websites. My visit to Kyoto the old capital of Japan Essays -

Muflah Al Qahtan: Professor: Camil Alexander English 1301 My visit to Kyoto the old capital of Japan Introduction Tourism and Traveling in General are deemed as good experiences that people seem to seek. As a person interested in Travelling that combines good scenery with history, there weren`t many destinations in mind however, my decision in the end was to visit Kyoto in Japan. Out of the various cities in Japan, Kyoto is known for its captivating scenery, historical temples, amazing illuminations and lively festivals. The old capital of japan captivates visitors by its deep history that goes back to over 1200 years when it was first established under the name of Heinan-kyo, Heinan-kyo was a political center where the Emperor, Nobles, officers and Soldiers worked. It was A natural medley of willows and cherry blossoms weave themselves into brocade, the Heian-kyo" as described in a poetic verse that describes the city at that time. While Kyoto is no longer the Capital, the architecture and the history left within the city keeps it a famous tourism destination and captivates the attention of a lot of people in the world. My visit to the amazing Temples within Kyoto During my visit to Kyoto, the ancient architecture of the temples was amazing to see, the Golden pavilion being the most captivating building of all. You get to see a gold, glided temple built near a pond surrounded by a garden full of trees. In the garden, you can see a small rainbow forming from the mini-waterfall as water streamed down to hit a bunch of slightly dangerous looking rocks. Outside the Garden and just before the exit you get to enjoy tea in a traditional Japanese area sitting on the ground surrounded by nature. Beside the amazing architecture used in the Golden Pavilion, a similarly build temple exists within the city, being modeled after the Golden Pavilion the temple got the name of The Silver Pavilion, outside the building of the Silver Pavilion a lovely garden exists where leaves fall on a slope of mossy grass and the wind creates a refreshing breeze the tickles the skin and refreshes the mind. The Silver Pavilion differs from its presider the golden Pavilion in that it`s build upon a slope and beside the mossy garden a sand garden exists where pure white sand can be seen decorating the place. Another amazing place within my trip was the pure Water Temple, the illuminations of the temple being a magnificent sight for the eyes to see. You feel dazed as you see the light dancing and illuminating on the kouyou leaves surrounding the temple, creating an astonishing harmony of colors. The trees surrounding the temple illuminating with light create a very good atmosphere for taking pictures and the sloped streets of the Higashiama district just outside the temple give off a traditional vibe, with tons of wooden shops and building to buy souvenirs and local food, a bunch of which were really delicious including Ramen, steamed buns, cotton candy and Takoyaki. The Inari shrine The Inari shrine was another important place within the Trip located on the top of a mountain, with its huge gate and innovative design the shrine is a well-known tourist destination, on the way to the shrine you get to see the Tori`s which are gates built by the people with the beliefs that a gate built in that shrine will bring prosperity to the owner`s business. Walking inside all the Gates seemed surreal and the view from halfway across the hike looked more than incredible, while the trip up does mesmerize you and you get to enjoy yourself, after a day full of walking, the trip down might be more painful than enjoyable. Gardens and Natural scenery The final and the most important place within the trip was the Arashiyama which is located in the western outskirts of Kyoto, the Arashiyamas scenery are splendid with the garden in tenryu-ji temple being the most beautiful thing you could ever see truly befitting the description given to it by The UNESCO as The most beautiful garden in the world. The Bamboo Grooves within the garden were idyllic and the magical feeling you get while walking along a path surrounded by neatly organized Bamboo sticks

Propaganda Posters of WWI essays

Propaganda Posters of WWI essays The United States produced a lot of propaganda posters during WWI. Most explained that we should eat certain foods so we can send the rest Over There to help our troops. Also many of the posters pushed us to work harder. Explaining that the work we do is for our men in Europe. There was a high demand for building ships at this time because Germany had many ships of their own. Many businesses in my eyes didnt have a high turn-over rate because of this situation. They stated that jumping from one job to another is hurting the production and they need us to help them win this battle. The posters about saving sugar, fat, wheat and meat because we can use it as our ammunition to the soldiers were to convince Americans that even though that they are not there that they have an important part in this. The ships that were built by working day and night were used to send food to the soldiers. From industrial to agricultural goods, everything was needed. Agriculture was very important because that was where that sugar, meat and wheat was coming from. During the winter months cotton was important for coats to keep warm and also socks for our troops and allies. Food and Drug Administration asked families to save their garbage because that could be important to us and the war because they could contain ingredients for soaps, fertilizers, and other war necessities. Ever created regulations on disposal of food and waste products. They wanted us to be more efficient in everything we do because the littlest thing to our daily lifestyle could be the biggest part of the war. That was pounded in to the Americans heads with these posters. This period of time had to be the best time ever for the United States as far as producing goods, productivity (factories and farming), and morale as a nation. The government also produced war stamps and bond to help fund the war as well. Posters were put out to...

The Appeal to (Irrelevant) Authority (Logical Fallacy)

The Appeal to (Irrelevant) Authority (Logical Fallacy) The appeal to (false or irrelevant) authority  is a  fallacy in which a rhetor  (public speaker or writer) seeks to persuade an audience not by giving evidence but by appealing to the respect people have for the famous. Also known as ipse dixit and ad verecundiam, which means he himself said it and argument to modesty or respect respectively, appeals to authority rely entirely upon the trust the audience has as a speakers integrity and expertise on the matter at hand. As W.L. Reese puts it in Dictionary of Philosophy and Religion, though, not every  appeal to authority  commits this fallacy, but every appeal to an authority with respect to matters outside his special province commits the fallacy. Essentially, what he means here is that although not all appeals to authority are fallacies, most are - especially by rhetors with no authority on the topic of discussion. The Art of Deception Manipulation of the general public has been a tool of politicians, religious leaders and marketing experts alike for centuries, utilizing appeal to authority often to support their causes with little to no evidence for doing so. Instead, these figureheads use the art of deception to leverage their fame and recognition as a means to validate their claims.   Have you ever wondered why actors like Luke Wilson endorse ATT as Americas largest wireless phone coverage provider or why Jennifer Aniston appears in Aveeno skincare commercials to say its the best product on the shelves? Marketing firms often hire the most famous A-list celebrities to promote their products for the sole purpose of using their appeal to authority to convince their fans that the product they endorse is worth buying. As Seth Stevenson posits in his 2009 Slate article Indie Sweethearts Pitching Products, Luke Wilsons role in these ATT ads is straight-up spokesman - the [ads] are horribly misleading. The Political Con Game As a result, it is important for audiences and consumers, especially in the political spectrum, to be doubly aware of the logical fallacy of merely trusting someone on their appeal to authority. In order to discern truth in these situations, the first step, then, would be to determine what level of expertise the rhetor has in the field of conversation.   For instance, the 45th President of the United States, Donald Trump, often cites no evidence in his tweets condemning everyone from political opponents and celebrities to supposed illegal voters in the general election. On November 27, 2016, he famously tweeted In addition to winning the Electoral College in a landslide, I won the popular vote if you deduct the millions of people who voted illegally. However, no evidence exists that verify this claim, which only sought to alter public opinion of his opponent Hillary Clintons 3,000,000-vote lead over him in the popular vote count of the 2016 U.S. election, calling her victory illegitimate.   Questioning Expertise This is certainly not unique to Trump - in fact, a large majority of politicians, especially while in public forums and on-the-spot television interviews, use an appeal to authority when facts and evidence are not readily available. Even criminals on trial will use this tactic to attempt to appeal to the empathetic human nature of the jury in order to sway their opinion despite contradictory evidence.   As Joel Rudinow and Vincent E. Barry put it in the 6th edition of Invitation to Critical Thinking, no one is an expert on everything, and therefore no one can be trusted on their appeal to authority every time. The pair comment that whenever an appeal to authority is introduced, it is wise to be aware of the area of expertise of any given authority - and to be mindful of the relevance of that particular area of expertise to the issue under discussion. Essentially, in every case of appeals to authority, be mindful of those tricky appeals to irrelevant authority - just because the speaker is famous, doesnt mean he or she knows anything real about what theyre saying.

Services Marketing Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 3500 words

Services Marketing - Essay Example UK bus industry having about 9000 licensed bus companies now supports about 170,000 odd jobs. There are about 22000 bus services registered within UK. Stagecoach comprises of one of the largest bus operators in UK. It runs about 8100 buses and employs around 35000 staff. It is also engaged in providing rail and tram services in UK. Size The daily travel density across the country is about 2 million people. Major competitors for the concern include Cowie, FirstBus, Arriva, West Midlands Travel, National Express, First and GoAhead. Other competitors include international bus service agencies and independent operators (Arriva. 2013). Competitive Structure Since 1985, the bus industry has seen a growth that is remarkable. Presently, 4 of the major bus operators, namely, Cowie, FirstBus, Stagecoach and West Midlands Travel have more than 50% market share. However, the typical market structure specific to a bus industry is that unlike other manufacturing and service concerns, bus service i ndustry focuses majorly on numerous local markets. The local market is evidently the large urban areas (Tsiotsou, and Goldsmith, 2012). What is also striking about the market is that each one of the big 4 operators has almost equal market share with none having a significant market presence in all of the regions. If any of these big four operators want to become a market leader, they would necessarily need a very aggressive marketing strategy to acquire the market of other competitors. Competition is very limited because each one has its own market niche and customer set (Competition Commission, 2013). Opportunity and Threat Analysis Opportunities: Acquisitions Stagecoach is operating in a market where there are primarily three major competitors, namely, Cowie, FirstBus and West Midlands. Here, each bus operator has almost equal share in the industry ad each one acts as a major market player. Competition is faced by these 3 bus operators alone; rest smaller operators do not pose sig nificant threat (Reuters, 2013). This is because the bus market in US is geographically segregated. Each player has his set and defined market area. Players do not compete in each other’s defined territories. This culminates in what is known as a lack of head to head competition. Bus operators are running excess profits because of lack of competition in their area of operation. Cities like Oxford, Nottingham and Sheffield were among the few places where there was some sort of competition observed (The Courier, 2012). With a view to become a market leader and overcome such competition, Stagecoach can employ a consolidation strategy. It can expand its operations, and thereby market share by a series of acquisitions of smaller bus operators. With such acquisition based expansion, benefits to passengers will be felt directly in the form of falling prices, better services and higher frequencies. As for the firms, intense rivalry shall lead to one large firm being replaced by the o ther such that it leads to complete shutdown of the weaker firm (ReportLinker, 2013). Emerging markets and expansion abroad Stagecoach operates majorly in UK and is expanding its operations in USA, NewZealand and Canada. Emerging nations like Brazil, China, India and Indonesia are countries full of growth opportunities. Expansion of bus services in these countries would be a great business opportunity. Countries like China and India have a huge
